The Family Church by the River
Music Ministry

Christmas Cantata 2003 with thanks to members of the Peoples United Methodist Church for joining us.
The age of the music in our service ranges from hymns based on Gregorian Chant all the way up to Contemporary Christian Praise. We believe the same Spirit that moved the Psalmist to write songs of praise to the Lord inspires people through all the ages, to include ours, to express their praise, thankfulness, and joy through the gift of music.

![]() This little wind ensemble played a brilliant introit and accompanied the hymns on Easter Sunday. We would love to have more people join us. One particular need right now is for someone to step forward and accompany the choir with their guitar. An acoustic guitar adds so much to the more contemporary pieces and particularly the more meditational selections. About every three months, six of the local United Methodist Churches get together to have a Sunday afternoon Hymn Sing. Each church choir provides a song or two, and then all the church choirs sing a song together. The congregation gets to choose favorite hymns in between the choirs. Lots of hearty singing, with food following. The Hymn Sing rotates among the churches in our district which now includes: Amesbury UMC, Byfield UMC, First Parish UMC (Salisbury), People's UMC (Newburyport), The Good Shepherd UMC (Haverhill) and ours. A sample program is found HERE (Word format). Although most of our choir members have been life-long members, we truly welcome people who've never sung in a group before. If you don't read music, don't worry, you'll learn along the way.
